Liv's Speech Corner — In-Home Speech Therapy
Speech & language therapy for children, delivered in the comfort of your own home.
About Me
Hi everyone! I'm Liv, certified speech-language pathologist and owner of Liv's Speech Corner. Originally from Burlington, I have a degree in neuroscience from Dalhousie University and completed my Master's degree in speech-language pathology at Western University. I have always been interested in the brain and how best to rehabilitate its functions, including language and speech. I have a genuine passion for helping your child reach their potential and achieve all of their speech, language, and literacy goals.
It is very important to me that everyone feels welcome at Liv's Speech Corner. I strive to provide empathetic and neurodiversity-affirming care and create an environment of safety and trust for you and your child. I value working as a team and recognize that parents are the experts on their child. As such, collaboration is of the utmost importance to me.
I have experience treating speech sound disorders, language disorders, stuttering, and literacy difficulties. I also work with children with a variety of neurodevelopmental disorders, including Autism, ADHD, global developmental delay, intellectual disabilities, and learning disorders.
I am committed to staying up to date with professional development and have completed training in the following areas:
- Hanen: It Takes Two To Talk
- Lidcombe Program for Stuttering
- Meaningful Speech Course (Gestalt Language Processing)
- San’yas: Indigenous Cultural Safety Training
…as well as attending conferences and continuing education regarding remediation of “r,” motor speech disorders, and providing neurodiversity-affirming care and sensory strategies.
In my spare time, I enjoy being active, playing volleyball, binge watching a new TV show, and curling up with a good book.
I look forward to meeting you and your child soon!
Services
Initial Assessment
I offer detailed speech and language assessments to identify communication challenges and create an individualized plan for your child. The initial assessment begins with a parent interview, where we review your child's developmental history and any pertinent health information, as well as discuss any concerns you have with their speech, language, or literacy skills. I will then use a combination of informal and formal assessment measures with your child to determine their current communication strengths and weaknesses. By the end of the assessment, I will let you know if therapy is warranted and together we will determine goals that are tailored to your child's needs.
Formal assessment reports are available upon request at an additional cost of $100.
Articulation
Therapy for children that have difficulty producing speech sounds accurately and may not be understood well by others. This can include challenges producing specific sounds or with motor planning, such as in Childhood Apraxia of Speech and other motor-based speech disorders.
Language & Grammar
Therapy for children that have difficulty using and understanding language. This can include putting words together in sentences, using age-appropriate vocabulary and grammar, telling and comprehending stories, following directions, or understanding and answering questions.
Stuttering
Therapy for children who have challenges with the fluency of their speech production. This can appear as repetition of words, syllables and sounds; prolonging sounds in words; and sometimes the absence of sound (“blocking”).
Literacy
Therapy for children that have difficulty with reading, writing (spelling), or phonological awareness skills (rhyme, sound identification, blending and segmenting of syllables and sounds).
Social Communication
Therapy for children that have challenges with conversational skills, social interaction with others, and navigating different social situations.

Frequently Asked Questions
No, a referral is not required to access speech-language pathology services. You are able to self-refer your child if you have any concerns about their speech and language development.
For families residing in West London, Kilworth, and Komoka, I provide services in your home for your convenience. If you are located outside of these areas, I can also provide virtual sessions if appropriate for your child.
Therapy sessions are play-based and child-led, meaning that I will incorporate our therapy goals naturally into play and follow your child's lead when selecting games and activities. This helps your child to stay motivated during therapy and allows me to build necessary rapport to help us make the most progress and reach our goals. After all, kids learn best when they are having fun!
No, services are not covered by OHIP. However, speech-language pathology services are covered by most health benefit providers. It is recommended you check in with your insurance provider to confirm exact coverage amounts.
At this time, I do not direct bill insurance companies on your behalf. I will issue you a receipt after payment is received for your session, which you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
I'm happy to offer multiple payment options for your convenience. You may pay by cash, cheque, debit or credit card, or e-transfer to oliviazanattaslp@gmail.com.
